Group Management - what is it?

SMS messages are a quick and convenient method to interact with groups of people. As mobile phone penetration is above 90% in most countries and geographic coverage exceeds 90% as well, sending out and receiving text messages has become a popular means for managing and staying in touch with teams and large groups of people.

Contacts is a ready-to-use web-based application that enables users to send and receive SMS messages from their computers. Group management is one of the features that is available by default: contacts and their phone numbers can be easily added, changed and removed, and these contacts can be added to groups. Sending out messages to a group is done on the fly by selecting the group in the web interface.

A Contacts account can be associated to a dedicated short code (e.g. 64111 number available on all networks in one country) or to a long number (e.g.. (+352) 661 234 567). Thus, two-way messaging is available without the need for a keyword to be typed at the beginning of a message, which is required when using a shared short code to dispatch received messages to the right account.
